A current-carrier bug: a listening device that captures audio and transmits it through a building's AC power wiring to a paired receiver, evading RF detection as a whole. Current-carrier devices are a documented category of covert listener; this one was built for electronics research and lawful testing on my own equipment.
I designed the full signal path: the microphone preamplifier, the carrier modulation stage that rides the mains, and the recovery stage on the receiver. Schematics and both PCBs were drawn in KiCad.
| Principle | Current-carrier transmission over AC power wiring; no RF emission to sweep for |
| Sender | Microphone preamplifier + carrier modulation stage, plugs into mains |
| Receiver | Paired recovery stage on the same wiring; Eavesdrop Receiver V1.0 board |
| Design | Schematics and PCBs in KiCad; ~32-part BOM |
| Status | Finished |
